I have been working in a psychological capacity since 2000 and qualified as a counselling psychologist in 2008. As well as working in private practice, I work as a Clinical Lead for an adult autism mental health service and have specialised in adult work throughout my training and career.
I have been trained in a wide range of methods, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Psychodynamic
Humanistic psychotherapy.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
I have had extensive supervision in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Schema Focused Therapy.
I have worked with a wide range of people suffering from:
Depression
Bereavement
Relational difficulties
Social Anxiety
Health Anxiety
Generalised Anxiety
Bipolar
Schizophrenia
Personality Disorders.
Childhood Trauma
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Whilst a diagnosis can often be very helpful in giving some explanation of what might be going on for you and providing hope that things will get better, my concern is with the individual, their experiences and their suffering. So whilst I have worked with ‘depression’, ‘post traumatic stress disorder’ and ‘personality disorder’ my interest is in seeing what this means for you, if you have been offered a diagnosis, and how it fits with your life.
This is part of reaching a psychological understanding (called ‘formulation’) of one’s difficulties at a current point in time. Working with me would involve negotiating such an understanding so that we would have a baseline around which to think about changes you may wish to make to your life or how to consider your perceptions around situations that are meaningful to you.
I work individually with adults whose difficulties are suitable for psychological therapy within the community.
